About Ankle Biter LA
Ankle Biter LA is an independent website that turns public mosquito data into a page for every LA County community, so residents can see what's been found near them and what to do about it.
Where the data comes from
- Invasive Aedes detections: California Department of Public Health, list updated December 5, 2025.
- West Nile virus activity: California West Nile Virus website, as of October 1, 2026.
- Agency service areas and phone numbers: each district's own website.
We update the numbers through the season. If something looks wrong for your community, email hello@anklebiterla.com and we'll correct it.
How the site makes money
Right now we're signing licensed companies for the spring season. Waitlist emails are used only to tell you when quotes open. Once an area opens, quote requests go to one licensed pest control company that pays us to receive requests from its area. Some product links are affiliate links that pay a small commission. Neither changes what the data pages say, and we always point you to your free public district first.
What we're not
We aren't a government agency, a vector control district, or a pest control company, and nothing here is medical advice.
